# MDM & Silent Deployment

> Deploy Superwhisper silently to Mac and Windows fleets using Jamf, Microsoft Intune, or any MDM that supports DMG and EXE installers.

Roll Superwhisper out across your fleet without asking each user to download or install it manually. Superwhisper ships signed installers that work with [Jamf](https://www.jamf.com/), [Microsoft Intune](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/), and other MDM tools. Your IT team builds the deployment. Superwhisper does not supply config profiles or preset preferences.

## Installers

| Platform | Installer | Download |
| - | - | - |
| macOS | Signed DMG | [superwhisper.dmg](https://builds.superwhisper.com/latest/superwhisper.dmg) |
| Windows x64 | Machine-wide EXE | [x64 enterprise installer](https://fresh.superwhisper.com/download/enterprise/x64) |
| Windows ARM | Machine-wide EXE | [ARM enterprise installer](https://fresh.superwhisper.com/download/enterprise/aarch64) |

These links always serve the latest version.

## What MDM deployment gets you

* **Silent install** across Mac and Windows without user interaction
* **Managed Accessibility permission** on macOS via a PPPC profile, allowing Superwhisper to paste into other apps
* **Auto-activation** when paired with [SAML SSO](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/saml-sso.md) and [SCIM](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/scim.md). Users sign in with their work email and their Enterprise seat activates automatically, no license keys to distribute
* **Centralized updates** through your MDM update channel

## macOS (Jamf)

### Install

The Superwhisper DMG is a drag-to-install disk image. It also holds a background image and an `/Applications` shortcut. Jamf Pro can't deploy it as it is, so build a PKG first:

1. Build a PKG from the DMG. In Jamf Composer, drag in the DMG, choose **Convert to Source**, delete everything except `superwhisper.app`, and root the app at `Applications/`. Or build it from the command line on a Mac with Superwhisper installed:
   ```
   pkgbuild --component /Applications/superwhisper.app --install-location /Applications superwhisper.pkg
   ```
2. Upload the PKG to Jamf Pro or your distribution point
3. Create a policy scoped to the target computer group
4. Set the trigger (recurring check-in, login, or self-service) and frequency
5. Run the policy

### Permissions

Superwhisper needs **Accessibility** permission for its keyboard shortcuts and to paste text into other apps and **Microphone** permission to record audio. You can grant Accessibility access with a PPPC (Privacy Preferences Policy Control) profile:

1. Create a new **Configuration Profile** in Jamf
2. Add a **Privacy Preferences Policy Control** payload
3. Add Superwhisper with the **Accessibility** service set to **Allow**, using the values below
4. Scope the profile to the same computer group as the install policy

| Field | Value |
| - | - |
| Identifier | `com.superduper.superwhisper` |
| Identifier type | Bundle ID |
| Team ID | `XDP69BYUP9` |
| Code requirement | `anchor apple generic and identifier "com.superduper.superwhisper" and (certificate leaf[field.1.2.840.113635.100.6.1.9] /* exists */ or certificate 1[field.1.2.840.113635.100.6.2.6] /* exists */ and certificate leaf[field.1.2.840.113635.100.6.1.13] /* exists */ and certificate leaf[subject.OU] = XDP69BYUP9)` |

You can also read the code requirement from an installed copy with `codesign -dr - /Applications/superwhisper.app`.

macOS does not allow MDM to pre-grant microphone access. Each user must click **Allow** when Superwhisper requests it. If they previously denied access, they can enable Superwhisper in **System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone**.

[Meetings](https://superwhisper.com/docs/meetings/overview.md) also needs **Screen & System Audio Recording**, which MDM can't pre-grant either. Onboarding offers it as an optional step. To turn off Meetings for everyone, turn off [system audio recording](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/configuration.md#allow-system-audio-recording).

See [Apple's PPPC reference](https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/dep38df53c2a/web) for the permissions a profile can manage.

### Verification

1. Confirm Superwhisper appears in **Applications** on a target Mac
2. Open it as the intended user and complete license activation
3. Grant microphone access when prompted
4. Follow the [Quickstart](https://superwhisper.com/docs/get-started/quickstart.md) to record a short dictation and confirm the text pastes into another app

## macOS (Intune)

Intune supports DMG apps for macOS. Upload the Superwhisper DMG as a **macOS app (DMG)** in the Intune admin center, then assign it to the target group.

Build a PPPC profile with the [values above](#permissions) and deploy it through Intune to grant **Accessibility** access. Each user must grant **Microphone** access themselves. Use the same [verification steps](#verification) on a target Mac.

## Windows (Intune)

### Install

Use the machine-wide enterprise installer from [Installers](#installers). It installs Superwhisper for all users in `C:\Program Files\superwhisper` and needs admin rights. The standard installer from superwhisper.com installs for one user only.

Remove any per-user copy of Superwhisper before you deploy. An existing per-user install can make the machine-wide install fail.

Intune treats EXE installers as Win32 apps:

1. In the [Intune admin center](https://intune.microsoft.com/), go to **Apps > Windows > Add**
2. Choose **Windows app (Win32)** and upload the EXE wrapped as an `.intunewin` package using the [Microsoft Win32 Content Prep Tool](https://github.com/microsoft/Microsoft-Win32-Content-Prep-Tool)
3. Set the install command (see below) and set **Install behavior** to **System**
4. Add a detection rule: **Registry**, key path `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\superwhisper`, detection method **Key exists**
5. Assign the app to your target group as **Required**

### Silent install command

The installer accepts the `/S` flag for fully silent installation:

```
superwhisper_<version>_x64-enterprise.exe /S
```

On ARM devices, the file is `superwhisper_<version>_arm64-enterprise.exe`.

To uninstall silently, run the uninstaller from the install directory:

```
"C:\Program Files\superwhisper\uninstall.exe" /S
```

### Verification

Check the Intune admin center under **Apps > Monitor > App install status** for per-device install results.

## Activation after install

If your organization is on Superwhisper Enterprise with [SAML SSO](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/saml-sso.md) configured, users open the app, sign in with their work email, and their license activates automatically. No license keys to push.

Without SSO, send members a join link or an email invite. See [Member Management](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/member-management.md#adding-members-to-your-organization).

## Updates

On macOS, Superwhisper checks for updates on launch by default. If your MDM installs the app as root, standard users can't complete an in-app update. To manage updates through your MDM instead:

1. Deploy a configuration profile for the `com.superduper.superwhisper` domain with `SUEnableAutomaticChecks` and `SUAutomaticallyUpdate` set to `false`
2. Deploy each new DMG as a replacement package on your usual schedule

On Windows, the machine-wide installer turns off in-app updates. Users see that updates are managed by their administrator. To update, deploy the new enterprise EXE through your MDM.

## Network access

If your fleet sits behind a VPN, proxy, or firewall, allow `*.superwhisper.com` and `superwhisper.com`. This covers every Superwhisper host, including cloud regions we add later. For the full host list, see the [Superwhisper Trust Center](https://trust.superwhisper.com).

If the network blocks `api.superwhisper.com`, license activation fails or hangs.

The Windows app detects proxies through WPAD and PAC files.

### Third-party providers (optional)

The app connects to these providers directly from each user's machine. Allow only the ones your team uses. On macOS 2.18.4 and later, turning off [Allow Cloud AI Models](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/configuration.md) also blocks members' own cloud API keys. To enforce your policy on older versions or other platforms, block the provider domains your organization has not approved.

| Domain | Provider |
| - | - |
| `api.openai.com` | OpenAI |
| `api.anthropic.com` | Anthropic |
| `api.groq.com` | Groq |
| `generativelanguage.googleapis.com` | Google Gemini |
| `api.deepgram.com` | Deepgram (HTTPS and WebSocket) |
| `api.elevenlabs.io` | ElevenLabs (HTTPS and WebSocket) |
| Your endpoint | Azure OpenAI, [Amazon Bedrock](https://superwhisper.com/docs/enterprise/amazon-bedrock.md), self-hosted, or OpenAI-compatible models |
