# Introduction

> Superwhisper turns your voice into clean, formatted text in any app. It runs on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.

Superwhisper turns your voice into clean, formatted text in any app: messages, emails, notes, and code. On a Mac it records and summarizes meetings too, with no bot in the call. With local models, nothing you say leaves your device.

Superwhisper works offline. Local voice models transcribe without an internet connection. AI formatting offline needs the local S1-mini model in the Message or Mail mode. Other AI processing needs the internet.

## How it works

**1. Dictation**

Speak normally (or *whisper*).

**2. Transcription**

State-of-the-art AI models convert your voice into text, often within seconds.

**3. Smart processing**

Optionally, AI enhances your dictation to match your preferred tone, format, and communication style.
