The fix

After you tap the Superwhisper keyboard button to start dictation, swipe back to your app yourself. iOS 26.4 no longer lets third-party keyboards return you to the previous app automatically.

What changed

Apple’s iOS 26.4 update changed how third-party keyboards work. Superwhisper used to return you to your app after you started dictation. That behavior is no longer available. Your modes still work as before. This includes Message, Mail, Note, and any custom modes.
Explore the built-in modes to find the ones that fit your common tasks. You can also create custom modes for specific workflows.

Yes, and we encourage it. The more people report the issue, the more likely Apple is to address it. File feedback in Apple’s Feedback Assistant. Consider referencing feedback ID FB22247647, which tracks the underlying hostApplicationBundleID bug affecting third-party keyboards.
